Emily Messing, PharmD, BCPS, currently serves as a Medication Safety Officer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. Emily received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Colgate University and her Doctor of Pharmacy from Touro College of Pharmacy New York. Emily completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, and her PGY-2 in Medication-Use Safety at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. Her areas of interest include medication safety, informatics, and drug shortages. Her recent publications include the safe use of intravenous smart pumps and the role of pharmacists in the medication reconciliation process. Emily currently serves as the Treasurer for the New York City Society of Health-System Pharmacists and is a Clinical Advisory Board member for ISMP’s Medication Safety Alert newsletter.
