Austen Mario Werab was born and raised in Naples, Florida. Staying close to home, Austen completed a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at the University of Miami. After his undergraduate studies, Austen became a City Year Americorps Member, serving in a third-grade classroom as an educator and mentor in Sacramento, California. Falling in love with California, he decided to stay and pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. Austen is now a third-year student pharmacist at the USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Los Angeles, California. During his time at USC, he has been involved in local and national leadership positions, including the Director of Mental Health Outreach for the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP) USC organization, the director of Pediatric Health within the American Pharmacy Student Alliance (APSA) at USC, as well as nationally as the Vice Chair for ASHP's Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee. Loving his time working as an intern at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Austen's current interests in pharmacy practice include pursuing a residency as well as practicing in pediatrics, oncology, or neonatal intensive care in the future. Outside of school, Austen enjoys his free time boxing, fishing, and taking his two puppies to the dog park.
